Guwahati: Even though the Assam government has enacted a new law against illegal cattle transporters, the crooks are not leaving any stone unturned to smuggle cows out of the state. Smugglers now use goods container vans to smuggle cows. But vigil police and security forces have foiled many attempts of these smugglers to transport cows out of the state in illegal ways. Dhekiajuli police arrested three cow smugglers, Burhanuddin, Gulzar Hussain and Safiqul Islam and recovered 33 cows they were trying to transport out of the state to smuggle to Bangladesh. Dhekiajuli police in Sonitpur district, on a confirmed tip-off, on Friday night deployed check Naka to prevent the cow smuggling. The police team stopped the goods container truck and found 33 cows inside it. The three people carrying the cows couldn't show any legal documents of the cattle transportation. They were taken into custody, and later they confessed these cows were being transported out of the state illegally.

On the other hand, Nagaon police also seized a container truck on Thursday night and recovered 25 cows from the truck. These cows were also illegally transported out of the state. Nagaon police arrested the cow smuggler Sirajul Islam and truck driver Raju Bhumij. Nagaon police recently arrested three cow smugglers, Mofizuddin, Ariful and Rifiqul Islam and seized 35 cows they were trying to smuggle out of the state.

After the new law against cattle smuggling came into force in Assam, cow smugglers rackets have been trying to transport cows in goods container trucks to cheat the police. But Assam police have foiled many such attempts by the smugglers.
