New Delhi: The Budget Session of Parliament is set to commence from January 31 and will continue till April 8, with a nearly month-long recess after the first half.

President Ram Nath Kovind will address the Joint Sitting of Parliament on January 31, the first day of the business of the new calendar year, as per the convention. Sources said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would present the Budget 2022-23 on February 1.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs has recommended the session schedule, with the first half of the session proposed from January 31 to February 11. The second half of the session is likely to resume on March 14.

During the break, the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees will consider the 'Demands for Grants' relating to ministries and departments and prepare their reports.

There will be no sitting on March 18 on account of the Holi festival.  Sources said sitting arrangements would be worked out based on social distancing and COVID-19 protocols during the session.
