This is not the first time Congress has been caught spreading fake news on social media to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The urge is so deep that the Congress party cannot stop itself from using fake news and fake videos to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It again posted a fake video of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday (January 12) night.

In the video posted by Bihar Congress, Deputy CM Maurya could be heard saying as long as Narendra Modi is the prime minister of this country, farmers, country, and citizens would not benefit. The 20-second-long video went viral on social media platforms. The video is fake. In the original video, Maurya had said as long as Narendra Modi is the prime minister, no harm will ever come to farmers, citizens and this country.

In February last year, an FIR was registered by the Prayagraj police after one such fake video of the deputy chief minister went viral. Former Congress president and Nehru family scion Rahul Gandhi have been caught spreading fake news on social media multiple times.

In October last year, Rahul Gandhi had spread fake news about communal clashes in Tripura. Following a communal clash, he had posted on Twitter that Hindus were committing atrocities on Muslims. He posted this long after the Tripura police had busted the fake news. Since March 2018, there has been a BJP government in Tripura led by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

In the much-publicised Rafale case, Rahul Gandhi kept pushing the fake narrative long after the Supreme Court said it did not find anything wrong in the Rafale case.

In October last year, Karnataka Congress deleted a tweet about PM Modi and apologised for it. Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar had also apologised for the post.

On Wednesday (January 12), the UP Police fact-checked Congress leader Rita Yadav’s claim that she was shot in the leg for opposing PM Modi. The police investigation revealed that she had planned the shooting to get an assembly ticket.
