New Delhi: Union Home Minister and BJP chief poll strategist Amit Shah will spend a considerable time of the year's last day at Ayodhya. According to BJP sources, he will address a rally in the afternoon at Ayodhya on Friday, Dec 31. As part of the saffron party's election campaign, Shah will also address a rally at Sant Kabir Nagar and later a roadshow at Bareily.

Shah is certainly a key devotee of Hindutva politics, and the trio of Modi-Shah-Yogi along with BJP national President JP Nadda has brought Ayodhya, the ancient pilgrim hub, at the centre of India's socio-cultural activity. Lately, the name of Faizabad district too was changed to Ayodhya by the Yogi government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Ayodhya more than once since Nov 2019, when the Supreme Court had given its historic verdict in favour of a grand temple in adherence to the desire of millions of Hindus in India and across the globe. He also visited Ayodhya during Diwali.

Officials have announced that Ayodhya is likely to get a revamped railway station at the cost of Rs 126 crore by March 2022. The temple town has witnessed increased footfall since the start of the construction of the Ram Temple in August 2020. The design of the new station is inspired by the under-construction Ram Temple. There will be a central dome, four pillars, and bow and arrow motifs. The new name of the Faizabad rail station is Ayodhya Cantonment.
