TMC is a Communal Party, Say TMC Leaders in Goa, Resign from Party

They also accused the TMC of not being able to uplift the status of women in West Bengal. Former MLA Lavoo Mamledar alleged TMC is dividing Goans in the name of religion.

Former Goa MLA Lavoo Mamledar, one of the first to join the TMC in Goa, resigned from the party Friday, saying the TMC was trying “to divide Goans based on religion”. He also alleged that TMC’s election approach in Goa is “purely communal in nature”.

In the resignation letter sent to West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC President Mamata Banerjee, Mamledar has written, “We do not want to continue with a party trying to divide Goans. We will not allow AITC and the company managing AITC Goa to break the secular fabric of the state and we shall protect it.”

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is officially called All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

While talking to reporters after sending the resignation, Mamledar said, “The way TMC has divided Goa between Christians and Hindus — that Catholic votes will go to TMC and Hindu votes will go to MGP — is evident from the seat-sharing pact of the alliance with MGP. Thus, I thought, it is not a secular party but a communal party trying to divide Hindus and Catholics of Goa.” He has also accused political strategist Prashant Kishor’s organisation I-PAC of not understanding the pulse of Goa.

“The company you have hired for your campaign in Goa is fooling Goans and they have not understood the pulse of Goa. This clearly indicates that in Goa the Griha Laxmi Scheme is nothing but a collection of data for elections by the company you have hired as they don’t have any data on the ground”, he has alleged in the letter.

CM Mamata Banerjee is desperate to gain a foothold in Goa. To increase the footprint of TMC outside West Bengal, she is visiting many states and inducting many leaders into her party. Goa is all set for assembly elections in just a few months, along with Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Punjab.
