Rafiqul Hussain, who introduced himself as Rubul Das, abducted a minor Hindu girl after she refused to marry him.

Guwahati: Love jihad cases are rising in Assam, especially in the lower Assam region, where Muslim crooks are trying to trap Hindu girls with various tricks. A case of Love Jihad has come to light in the Udalguri district of Assam, where a Muslim boy abducted a minor Hindu Rajbonshi girl.

A dumper truck driver Rafiqul Hussain abducted a 17 years old Hindu girl from the Goreswar area of the district on 16th December. The Lover Jihadi Rafiqul, who hails from Bilashipara of Dhubri district, was engaged in Goreswar as a dumper driver. He introduced himself as Hindu boy Rubul Das to the minor girl and trapped the girl in love. He later forced the girl to marry him and disclosed his original name. But the minor girl refused to do so, and offended by the denial, Rafiqul on 16th December called the girl to meet him. He then abducted the girl and took her to his native village in Dhubri district.

Knowing of the abduction, the girl's family complained to Goreswar police station, who then launched a search operation and asked Rafiqul's family to corporate with the police or face legal consequences, as the abducted girl was minor. Later on 18th December, the Love jihadi surrendered in the Goreswar police station. Police arrested Rafiqul on charges of kidnapping and criminal conspiracy.

District court sent Rafiqul to judicial custody till further hearing. The minor girl was taken to the district child care centre for counselling. Shocked in trauma, the minor girl needs several counselling sessions, says the child care centre counsellor. Locals allege that this type of love jihad cases are on the rise in the district and Muslim boys, working in the area, are trying the tricks of Love jihad by adopting Hindu names. The locals demand the government take appropriate steps in such types of religious attacks on the Hindu community with immediate action.
