Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Aandolan Samiti, in its application to the court, said that namaz was never offered inside the Shahi Idgah mosque till a few years back.

Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Aandolan Samiti has moved an application in the Mathura court, requesting the court to direct the authorities to stop namaz in the Shahi Idgah mosque and the adjacent road.

President of the Samiti, Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh, said that namaz was never offered inside the Shahi Idgah mosque but in the last few years namaz is being offered inside the mosque as well as adjacent road.

The application reads “This is the property of Hindu Parties and namaz was never offered in the Idgah Premises. But, in the last few years, the opposite parties have been intentionally offering namaz five times a day, which is legally impermissible. Quran also does not allow namaz on the disputed land. The opponents are deliberately trying to disturb communal harmony and they are even offering Namaz on the road…”

Invader Aurangzeb demolished the temple at the birthplace of Shri Krishna in 1669 and got one mosque built. The 13.37 acres land of the Shri Janmabhoomi is known as Katra Keshavdev.

The main birthplace of Shri Krishna is the one on which Shahi Idgah mosque is built. Even today, Hindu religious symbols are inscribed on the walls of the mosque.

Advocate Singh, in his application, has said, “It has come to my knowledge that the management of the mosque is trying to erase all such Hindu symbols from the walls of the mosque.”

In July this year, Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Aandolan Samiti and Shri Krishna temple trust had offered a bigger piece of land to the Shahi Idgah mosque management to shift the mosque to some other place.

The offer was made through a court application.

In September this year, advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh had filed an application in the civil court in Mathura for the nullification of the settlement reached between the temple and the mosque in 1968. He had claimed that the settlement was forced by the Congress party to appease the Muslims.

The application claimed that the settlement reached between the Shahi Idgah mosque and the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Seva Sangh was illegal as Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Seva Sangh was not the custodian of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi. The real custodian of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi is Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust.

The applicants had provided proof that all the top office-bearers of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Seva Sangh and the Shahi Idgah mosque were high ranking members of the Congress party. The settlement was part of a larger conspiracy to appease the Muslims and it was secretly decreed in 1973.
