DMK attempts to scrap prayer assemblies in schools, change Tamil New year from Chithirai to Thai

DMK has been implementing the agenda of Abrahamic forces and is trying to Christianize the concept of Tamil New Year.

The DMK government led by MK Stalin is once again trying to meddle with the faith of people by asking schools not to conduct prayer meets before the start of the classes, citing COVID-19 social distancing norms.

Organiser weekly has also reported that TN Textbook and Educational Services Corporation (TNTESC) was placed to accommodate all Hindu phobic, anti-BJP and offensive speech peddlers. Christians are preferred a lot for these coveted posts. It may be recalled Father Maria Susai, who shared with pride how he inserted portions portraying Christianity in the School curriculum from 1st-12th standard, is a member of the TN Public Service Commission. Dindigul I. Leoni is the chairperson of the TNTESC and is known for his sexist, anti-Hindu jibes in his debate shows and poll campaigns. Suba Veerapandian, best known for his anti-Hindu speeches, mainly targeting the Brahmin community and a strong Modi hater, has been appointed as Textbook body.

Now the state education department has advised the schools to drop prayer classes. In Tamil Nadu, the government permitted schools to run physical classes after the corona cases came down. The new directive has received flak from the parents and others.
During the prayer assembly, students are asked to sing or recite lines from religious texts like Bhagavat Gita, Thirukkural and on Fridays Raghupathy Raghava Raja ram besides Tamil Thai Vaazhuthu (song on mother of Tamil language) and ending it with National Anthem. Christian and Madarassas have their prayers in tune with their religion. Parents say during the rainy days' prayer classes will be held inside the classrooms.

"The prayer will make them free from pressure and have a light mind with a clear vision, a must for understanding lessons. No heaven will fall if the prayer meets with a short duration is being allowed. A select three or four students sing the prayer through the public address system, which the students in classrooms would follow. This system can be followed if the government really wants to maintain social distancing norms instead of dropping the prayer classes," point out educationists and parents.

One parent remembers in the 1960s, and the schools had moral instruction classes (MI), prayer, model parliament and maths table recitation besides literary debate meets. In the MI classes, teachers used to tell the heroic stories from Ramayan and Mahabharat, Panchatantra stories. At the end of the class, students would be told about the moral of that story. This had made them law-abiding, disciplined and religious and spiritual-minded persons."

When the first DMK government took over in the 1970s, CM Karunanidhi ended the MI class period. The recent spate of crimes by juveniles in the state is clear proof of how they are being misguided. BJP senior leader H. Raja condemned the Stalin government's decision in a tweet. He said, "The rulers may be rationalists, but the law permits right to pray. As such, the decision of the government is against law".

Another controversial decision of the state government is to make Thai month as New Year of Tamils. It tries to reset the centuries-old custom and spiritual beliefs to suit its narratives. The festival of Tamil New year is being celebrated all over the bharat in different names. In Punjab, it is Baisakhi; In Maharashtra, it is Gudi Padwa Vishu in Kerala, Rongali Bihu in Assam. Even countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Bali, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka, Thailand and others also celebrate the traditional New Year around this time. It usually falls on April 14 of the English month of Chithirai, which is an auspicious day for Hindus.

The DMK led government is making a nefarious effort to "Christianize" this festival to appease the Christians and push for its agenda. The current controversy came to the fore after a picture of a Pongal gift hamper bag that was shared on social media had the words "Happy Tamil Year" wishes. Stalin's establishment wants to make the Pongal festival which falls on the Tamil month of Thai, the Tamil New year.

This is not the first time such a move was taken. When Stalin's father Karunanidhi was at the helm, he passed the Tamil Nadu New year (Declaration) bills 2008, changing the Tamil New year from Chithirai 1 (April 14) to Thai 1 (January 14 or 15th). Tamilians did not accept this forced unilateral decision, and they continue to celebrate Chithirai as New Tamil Year. It was enforced without public support.

The act was withdrawn during Jayalalithaa's regime, and the DMK government once again wants to meddle with the people's faith, customs, and spiritual beliefs. To justify their decision, the government cites old Tamil texts and history. After the 2nd or 3rd century BC, Sanskrit culture and language started influencing Tamil's culture and language. But most Tamilians, Vedic scholars list out various texts to prove that Chithirai 1 is the Tamil New year when the Sun enters Mesha (Aries), a Zodiac sign. Kudalur Kizhar of the Sangam era mentions Chithirai month and Mesha Rai. Another renowned poet Nakkeeran said the world runs with the Goat ( Mesha Rasi/Aries) as the first sign. Astrologers and almanac writers are following the same.

Some DMK minions tried hard to prove with many theories. According to Thembavani, written by Veeramamunivar (Constantine Joseph Beschi), the actual birth of Jesus Christ is Margazhi 25th, which falls somewhere in the first week of January before Pongal (14th ). It is suspected that DMK wants to make Thai 1 as Tamil New year to bring it closer to Jesus' actual birth date. "It is a clear move to Christianize the concept of Tamil New Year," says a BJP leader.

DMK also replaced the 60-year cycle of the Sanskrit calendar with the Tamil calendar beginning with the Thiruvalluvar era as it believed the birth date of the saint-poet was in January around 31 BCE.

Former Union Minister, 2G scam fame and DMK MP A Raja said, "As long as Hinduism and a half foot idol of God are in the country, Communism will not gain roots here. If we fail to oppose BJP, Hinduism, Saffron, how can we bring revolution? If you are a true Tamil, come out of the Hindu fold immediately. Don't support the religion that categorised you as Sutra and Chandala." His entire speech in the video that was in circulation on social media is provoking and hatred against Hindus. Raja, a Crypto Christian, is a known Hindu phobic.

Stalin, in a video, was heard as saying, "DMK founder Anna said he was a Muslim sans scalp cap and Christian without wearing Cross. I want to remind you about his words. Never bother about feelings, ideologies, thoughts and irrespective of seat we win. We must be in power."

Continuing its temple demolition spree, the present DMK government is readying to blast the centuries-old Ranganathar cave temple in Villupuram district to create infrastructure. Minister Masthan is behind this move. Devotees oppose using bombs to split rocks would ruin the temple and its rare artefacts.

One thing is clear. The Tamil Nadu Government, which has failed on all fronts, including the recent inundation of water in more than 700 locations in Chennai for over a month, wants to divert its attention to such unwanted, uncalled and unproductive things. Its move to appoint non-brahmins as priests in Hindu temples and meddle with its affairs, alienating temple lands, using its funds for other uses came in for court strictures and public criticism. As already written, it is implementing the agenda of Abrahamic forces. Both Christian and Muslims religious heads openly said DMK won because of their votes. The present decisions are nothing but only gratitude for their unstinted support in elections.
