Massive gold hunt in Kerala’s Malappuram district: 10 kg gold confiscated, 9 arrested, Rs 62 Lakh recovered

10 kg of unaccounted gold was confiscated from various locations in Malappuram district in Kerala. 9 people were also arrested in connection with the raids. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has also recovered Rs 62 lakh unaccount money from the raids.

From a gold melting centre in Kavanur, DRI recovered 5.8 kg of gold while 850g gold was recovered from Fasalu Rehman's home. Another 1.5 kg gold was seized from one Avali and Rs 62 lakh was confiscated from Alavi's house. 1.5 kg gold was also seized from two gold smugglers named Unaise and Faisal from Calicut and Kochi airports. 

Other arrested individuals include Mohammad Mustafa, Mohammad Shihabbuddin, Mohammad Ashraf, Aashiq Ali and Veeran Kuttty. The total gold confiscated amounts to Rs 4.5 crore.
