Assam police encounter: Wanted cow smuggler Khairul Islam sustains bullet injury; 2 another cow smugglers arrested

Two other smugglers Nur Mahammad and Azhar Ali were arrested. Md Rakib and  Md Ibungo from Manipur arrested with drugs, Yashin Ali arrested with YABA tablets in Guwahati

 

Guwahati: Assam police fired at a cow smuggler in Kokrajhar district on Friday night.One wanted cow smuggler Khairul Islam sustained bullet injury while trying to smuggle cow to neibouring Bangladesh. Two other smugglers Nur Mahammad and Azhar Ali were arrested by Kokrajhar police in the midnight operation. Kokrajhar police in a confirmed tipoff conducted raids in several places of the district. This gang of cow smuggler was carrying truck load of stolen cow for smuggling led by Khairul Islam. When the gang was stopped by a police team, Khairul tried to flee, taking advantage of darkness. Police fired on Khairul to prevent the escape. Khairul sustained bullet injury in his leg and was admitted to Barpeta medical college hospital. Police sources in Kokrajhar said that this gang was involved in cow theft and smuggling for a long time in the state. 

Meanwhile nearby Nalbari police arrested four drug peddlers with huge quantities of contrabands. Continuing the war on drugs multiple search operations conducted on Friday night  by the Nalbari police resulted in apprehension of 4 drug peddlers.

Police team recovered 1880 Yaba tablets from their possession.  On Thursday Guwahati city police arrested one Md Rekib (35) and another Md Ibungo (34), both from Saraibam, Manipur & seized 129 grams of heroin from their possession at ISBT, Guwahati. Rekib is the driver of a bus (MN04 P 0844) that plies between Thoubal in Manipur and  Guwahati. 

On Tuesday Guwahati city Police led to the successful recovery of 50,000 ‘World is Yours’ tablets. Police team arrested one Yashin Ali who was carrying those contrabands.
