After much criticism, the Kejriwal government deployed workers to sprinkle water on the river Yamuna to clean massive foam. Boats were also deployed to remove the foam.

What shocked people in Delhi, and everywhere, is a picture of a Delhi Jal Board employee sprinkling water in the river Yamuna in Delhi to remove piles of foam from it.

"We are sprinkling water in the Yamuna to dissipate toxic foam," ANI quoted Delhi Jal Board employee Ashok Kumar.

In the last few days, the Arvind Kejriwal government took this step after the massive uproar and protests about pollution in the river Yamuna.

On November 10 & 11, people will be celebrating Chhath pooja, in which people take a dip in the river Yamuna for two consecutive days. The ritual starts three days in advance. Pictures of people in foam laden water have been doing the rounds.

Taking on the Arvind Kejriwal government, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra said, "This is the most cruel joke Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have forced on the people of Delhi. He did absolutely nothing since he came to power to clean Yamuna."

AAP leader and Delhi Jal Board Vice-Chairman Raghav Chadha blamed Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments for the pollution in the Yamuna.

"The BJP govts in UP and Haryana should be blamed for this. Year after year we have written to UP govt to use irrigation technology, bioculture method…but BJP govts didn't pay any heed", ANI quoted Chadha.

He added, "About 105 MGD wastewater from Yamuna in Haryana and about 50 MGD wastewater from Ganga in UP merge into Okhla Barrage. The water has industrial waste, untreated detergents, ammonia, which lead to formation of foam."

On Tuesday (November 9), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari took a tour of Yamuna in Delhi to expose the lies of the Arvind Kejriwal government.

"I'm taking this tour to expose the lies of the Arvind Kejriwal government. The drainage in Najafgarh goes directly into Yamuna and pollutes the river in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal did nothing in the last seven years to check this pollution," Manoj Tiwari said.

He added that treating this drain water is not impossible, so Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should stop misleading people and start acting.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has promised to clean the river Yamuna year after year, but nothing happened in the last seven years. He keeps blaming others for problems. Mishra said the people of Delhi are paying a huge price for the inaction of the Kejriwal government.
