The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 16 places in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in connection with the ISIS propaganda magazine Voice of Hind and Bathindi IED recovery case. The agency carried out raids with assistance of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKPF).
The case pertains to an alleged conspiracy to radicalise and recruit impressionable Muslim youth in India by the Islamic State (IS). Three people – Umar Nisar, Tanveer Ahmad Bhat and Rameez Ahmad Lone – were arrested by the NIA in July this year. The agency had also arrested key accused Jufri Jawhar Damudi, the younger brother of Adnan Hasan Damudi, who has already been detained by the NIA.
"Jufri had created multiple pseudonymous IDs on encrypted chat platforms and was also a member of various online propaganda channels of ISIS," the agency had said.
