The Supreme Court slammed Kisan Mahapanchayat for seeking permission to hold 'satyagraha' at Jantar Mantar, saying, "you may have a right, but the citizens too have a right".

Hearing the petition, Justice A.M. Khanwilkar said that the farmers have strangulated the entire city and now want to enter the city and protest.

"You are obstructing everything and even heckling security people," he added.
"Once you have approached courts challenging the laws, what is the point of continuing the protests. If you have faith in courts, pursue that for urgent hearing instead of protesting," the court said, as reported by Bar and Bench. "You have strangulated the city and now you want to come inside the city and protest. This coaxing should stop. You have blocked highways and roads".

This comes a day after the top court questioned how highways could be blocked "perpetually" and said it is the Executive's duty to implement the law laid down by the court that dealt with protests at public places.
