India administered over 1 crore doses of Covid vaccine in single day; Prime Minister hails it as momentous feat

India administered more than one crore doses of Covid vaccine yesterday under its nationwide vaccination drive. This is the highest ever vaccination achieved in a single day since the start of the vaccination drive. Union Health Ministry said, the country's cumulative COVID vaccination coverage has crossed 62 crore. More than 47 crore vaccine doses have been administered as first dose and over 14 crore vaccine doses given as second doses so far.

The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June this year. The vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the record COVID-19 vaccination of over one crore doses yesterday is a momentous feat. In a tweet, he said, kudos to those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, the tireless efforts of health workers and determination of the Prime Minister to provide free vaccines to all, are showing the results.
