Tamal Bhattacharya, who hails from West Bengal, had sent out an SOS on Friday (August 20) requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to rescue him.
An Indian national, Tamal Bhattacharya, sent out an SOS on Friday (August 20) from Kabul, requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to rescue him from the clutches of the Taliban.
His attempts to reach the Hamid Karzai International Airport had failed, and he was locked in his school compound.
Tamal was a teacher of physics in an army school in Kabul. He did try to reach the airport on his own but failed. He took shelter in a wedding hall on Friday night to escape being assassinated by the Taliban.
Late Saturday (August 21) evening, a team of Indian officials rescued him, and he boarded an Indian Air Force flight to Delhi.
He landed in Delhi on Sunday (August 22). The same day, he boarded another flight to Kolkata.
Once in Kolkata, he praised the Taliban telling how he was fed well by the Taliban and the terrorists played football with him.

Pic 2: Once landed in Kolkata, he has all praises for #Talibans. Even said they played "football". He revealed the nature of a true Communist.”
Tamal, a 34-year-old resident of Nimta in the North Dum Dum area of West Bengal, is an engineer by profession and had gone to Kabul to teach in Kardan International school in March this year.
The Taliban captured Kabul on Sunday (August 15). And, in the trademark Taliban style, they unleashed terror in the streets of Afghanistan.
