Twitter is on its way to becoming the next East India Company, said Sufi Islamic Board. Its activities are against the national interest, so they must be protected.

Sufi Islamic Board said it would organise a sit-in front of all the Indian offices of Twitter to protest against the ‘Anti-National’ activities of the microblogging platform.

In a press release, SIB said Twitter provides legitimacy to extremist organisation PFI by providing it with a verified handle and suspends the account of nationalist organisation Hamara Hind.

“Twitter is adamant to become the next East India company and Sufi Islamic Board will protest it,” the statement read.

The sit-in will be organised on Monday (July 26) from 1 to 3 pm in front of all the India offices of Twitter.

Mansoor Khan, the national president of the Sufi Islamic Board, will lead the protest at Twitter India’s Mumbai office.

Twitter has locked horns with the Union government and has repeatedly denied complying with the new IT rules.

Recently, the Union government withdrew the intermediary protection extended to the microblogging platform.

Twitter arbitrarily suspends accounts that talk about the greatness of India’s civilisation.

During the January 26 Delhi riots by alleged farmers, it refused to comply fully with the Union government's order of restricting some accounts which were spreading misinformation.
