Assam CM Sarma asks road engineers to ensure time-bound completion of projects

CM Sarma commented roads reflect the quality of development in any part of the country, as the people gauge the level of development by roads, he asked the engineers to complete their works on a war footing so that fruits of development reach the grass root level quickly. 

Guwahati: To avoid cost escalation, Assam Government emphasized on completing the ongoing projects in a time-bound manner.

Holding a meeting with executive engineers of the public works department (roads) on Thursday to review the progress of different schemes, State chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the officers to accord top priority for the completion of works to avoid cost over-run.

Taking stock of the progress of various scheme related works of the PWD, CM Sarma commented roads reflect the quality of development in any part of the country, as the people gauge the level of development by roads, he asked the engineers to complete their works on a war footing so that fruits of development reach the grass root level quickly.

Sarma also took stock of the progress of the works under the central roads & infrastructure funds, rural infrastructure development funds etc., along with works related to the proposed elevated corridor at the NH37 stretch of Kaziranga National Park. He also reviewed the construction works of flyovers at Dispur, Maliagon, Sarab Bhatti in the city.

Earlier, the saffron leader visited Batadrava locality of Nagaon district and unveiled a series of construction works developing Monikut, Kirtan Ghar and Naatghar of Shree Shree Batadrava Than. Sarma also inspected infrastructures of the cultural complex and directed concerned officials and Batadrava Than managing committee to prepare a detailed proposal comprising the Boha Ghar, Sabha Ghar, office room etc.

It may be mentioned that the BJP led government in Dispur took up the Batadrava Than beautification project with a budget of rupees 188 crores, where its foundation was laid by Union home minister Amit Shah on 25 February in the presence of then CM Sarbananda Sonowal and his cabinet colleague Sarma.

Batadrava legislator Shivamoni Bora, former BJP legislator Angoorlata Deka, district magistrate Kavitha Padmanabhan, district police chief Anand Mishra, Satradhikar of Narowa Satra Devananda Deva Goswami, responsible senior government officials, office bearers of Batadrava Than managing committee with other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
