Cycle rally cheering for Lovlina in Tokyo Olympic

Guwahati: State assembly speaker, opposition leader, several state ministers and legislators from different political parties joined the rally.

 

As Assam’s young athlete Lovlina Borgohain arrived in Tokyo for participating in Olympic Games 2020, a cycle rally was organized this morning in the city, where State chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined in it along with several members of State legislative assembly.

 

“We are so proud of Lovlina, who becomes the first female athlete from Assam to represent India at Olympic Games and the second boxer after Shiva Thapa to participate in the international sports extravaganza from our State,” said CM Sarma, while inaugurating the rally to wish the boxer from Sarupathar locality.

 

The goodwill campaign 'Go For Glory, Lovlina' will continue as wishes to the Asom Konya for her success. State assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary, dy-speaker Dr Numal Momin, leader of the opposition Debabrat Saikia, ministers Ranjeet Kr Dass, Atul Bora, UG Brahma, Pijush Hazarika, Bimal Borah, Sanjoy Kishan, etc., joined in the rally.

 

Several legislators from different political parties, including CM’s political secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah, Mrinal Saikia, Biswajit Phukan, Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi, KAAC chief Tuliram Ronghang, Lovlina’s father Tiken Borgohain, many well-wishers also present during the occasion.

 

Mentionable is that the Assam assembly recently adopted a unanimous resolution to wish for pugilist Lovlina in Tokyo Olympics. Moving the resolution, minister Pijush Hazarika commented Lovlina made Assam proud by qualifying for the Olympics. Her twin sisters are also acclaimed boxers, he added.
