Senior Congress leader and five-term MLA in Delhi assembly Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed said Indian Muslims are the descendants of Hindus both have the same DNA.

He added, the fight and division between the two communities are because of “siyasat”.

Narrating his own story, he said his ancestors were Hindus in Todalpur village in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. His mother was a Brahmin and father a Rajpoot. Two-three surrounding villages converted to Islam and, so did he.

“Indian Muslims have Hindu ancestors. Those who don’t believe this should read history books. It’s a fact which can’t be denied”, he said.
