Borsing, as a home guard at a check gate of Karbi Anglong district on 21 June, refused a vast amount of money from the dealers while helping the authority to recover illegal drugs worth rupees 12 crores from a night bus. Assam police chief Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta has already awarded him with a rupee of one lakh. Speaking at the event, CM Sarma stated that Borsing’s outstanding display of honesty and integrity while doing his duties would inspire the entire police force. He declared that the Bhartiya Janata Party-led coalition government in Dispur would continue recognizing honest and brave individuals in the state.

Stating that society has a moral duty to safeguard the younger generation from the menace of drugs, Sarma elaborated on the government’s relentless fights against the drug mafia. He also revealed that because of the zero-tolerance attitude adopted by the government, illegal drugs worth rupees 135 crores were seized in the last 45 days from different parts of the state.

Speaking about several initiatives to strengthen the police forces, he claimed it has highly inspired the police personnel to prevent cattle smuggling and crimes against women & children to a larger extend. Sarma elaborated on the improved facilities for the police personnel on medical reimbursements, annual health checks, housing facilities, etc.
In the presence of State ministers Atul Bora, UG Brahma, Keshab Mahanta, Jogen Mohan, Assam assembly deputy speaker Dr. Numol Momin, Karbi Anglong autonomous council chief Tuliram Ronghang with other dignitaries, Sarma stated that the government would continue promoting home guards to police ranks after reviewing their performances on-duty hours.
