Hungarians carried out a protest march on Sunday in the capital Budapest against the planned opening of a Chinese university’s campus in the city.

Shanghai-based Fudan University signed an MoU for setting up a campus in the city.

Many Hungarians believe the planned campus will affect the quality of education in Hungary and will also help the Chinese increase their influence in Hungary and the European Union.

The Hungarian government has been saying the campus will help in providing quality education to Hungarians.
The ruling party is saying the opposition is fueling hysteria in the country with help from the press.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbon has been gradually improving ties with China and Russia before the parliamentary elections in 2022.
