The district administration was getting complaints that some private hospitals in Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh were hoarding beds by admitting fake patients and patients who didn’t need hospitalisation.
Acting on these complaints, teams were formed under Chief Medical Officer Deepak Ohri.
These teams raided hospitals and found that the complaints were genuine.
More than 200 beds were freed within minutes of the raids.
Some hospitals were also found to be hoarding medicines and Oxygen. After hoarding essential medicines and Oxygen, they were sending fake SOS messages, creating panic amongst patients and their attendants.
The Uttar Pradesh government this week had announced that those found involved in black marketing of essential medicines would be booked under the stringent provisions of the National Security Act.
District Magistrate Suhash L Y said the administration is preparing a list of all such hospitals and strict action would be taken against them.
