The Supreme Court Monday told the protesting farmers that they could not continue to obstruct the commuters from moving freely on the roads.
The court was continuing the hearing in a petition filed by Monica Aggarwal.
It had issued notices to the Union government and the Delhi Police on March 26.
The petitioner had requested the court that its order about not blocking the roads while protesting was not being followed. The petitioner had specifically mentioned the Shaheen Bagh order.
Many times the Supreme Court had ruled that public roads can’t be blocked by the protestors.
Meanwhile, the farm leaders have decided to intensify the protest in a week. The protesting farmers said the government was planning to forcefully end their protest taking advantage of the Covid-19 situation.
The Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought adjournment by two weeks which was granted by the court.
