Last Three Police Officials Accused in Ishrat Jahan & Others Encounter Case Discharged by CBI Court in Ahmedabad

A Special CBI court on Wednesday discharged the last three police officials accused in the alleged fake encounter of Ishrat Jahan and three others.
The court noted in its order that there was nothing on record to prove that the four killed were not terrorists.
Four other police officials accused in the same case have been discharged earlier.
The officials discharged by the court today are: GL Singhal, Tarun Barot and Anaju Chaudhuri.
The CBI had filed the chargesheet in the case in 2013. The Congress -led UPA was in power at the centre.
Ishrat Jahan, along with Javed Shaikh, Amjadali Rana and Zeeshan Johar, was killed in an encounter with the police on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat at the time.
The police had claimed that the four were out to assassinate the then chief minister of Gujarat.
