U.S. Defense Secretary General Lloyd to visit India on his first foreign trip

United States Defense Secretary General Lloyd J. Austin will visit India from March 19 to 21. During his visit, he will hold talks with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders. As part of his first foreign trip, Secretary Austin will focus on the strength of the Indo-US strategic partnership.
 
During the visit, the two sides are expected to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and discuss regional security challenges and common interests in maintaining an open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. The discussion on defense cooperation will also focus on how the two countries can strengthen mutual cooperation and defense trade and industry cooperation between their military forces.
 
“I am on my first foreign trip as defense secretary,” said Defense Secretary General Lloyd J. Austin, who wrote on Twitter. “I will meet my counterparts and other officials to discuss the importance of our counterparts and partnerships, and together we will reinforce the U.S. commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. I will visit India to meet my counterpart, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and discuss with other senior national security leaders to strengthen the US-India major defense partnership and advance cooperation between the two countries,” he added.
 
As America has formed its new government in leadership of Joe Biden so US Defense Secratry’s visit to India is very important for both the countries in regards of their strategic relationship.
