Theatre artist Koushik Kar was in for a shock when director Saurav Palodhi asked him ‘to get lost’. Reason? Kar has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal.

Palodhi has no regrets about his decision. In fact, he put out a post saying he had no problems with being termed ‘intolerant’ for his act.

Bengal is witnessing a high-voltage election campaign as the election date comes closer.

The voting for the 294 member assembly is spread over eight phases, starting March 27. The counting will start on May 2.

Kar termed his removal an act of “Left-wing Fascism”. He added his theatre performance has nothing to do with his political affiliation.

Not surprisingly, many Left-affiliated theatre personalities supported Palodhi.

Theatre director Debesh Chattopadhyay supported Palodhi’s decision of dropping Kar.

Palodhi has adapted Utpal Dutt’s play ‘Ghum Nei’.
