Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Assam again on Monday (22 February 2021), where he is expected to inaugurate several development schemes and also address a public rally at the Kalajan-Chitalmari area of Silapathar in Dhemaji district. It will be Modi’s third visit to the assembly elections bound State, where poll-dates are assumed to be announced by the end of February. State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has already visited the venue to take stock of preparations for the program. Accompanied by Parliamentarian Pradan Barua, legislators Bhuban Pegu and Ranoj.

Pegu, State police chief Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and top district officials, Sonowal directed the concerned officials to ensure completion of preparation works on time.

Talking to scribes, Sonowal revealed that PM Modi will inaugurate Dhemaji Engineering College, three projects belong to the petroleum ministry from Silapathar and also the construction of an engineering college at Sualkuchi near Guwahati. He also hinted that

Modi will also pay a visit to Majuli river island. Earlier Modi visited Assam’s Sivasagar on 23 January to distribute land-papers to over one lakh indigenous families and then Dhekiajuli on 7 February to lay the foundation stone of two medical colleges at

Biswanath & Charaideo locality and officially inaugurate Asom Mala scheme.

Meanwhile, Union agriculture and farmer’s welfare minister Narendra Singh Tomar distributed various agricultural machinery to the farmers of Assam in a program organised under samagra gramya unnayan yojana in the city on Friday. Speaking at the function, Tomar commented that the small and marginal farmers must be empowered to make the villages self-reliant. They can earn profit only when attracted to valuable produce, connected to new technology and linked to the market, he added.

He asserted that the government is committed to bringing progress to the farmers of Assam which would make them able to contribute towards the goal of making an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Tomar appealed to the farmers to put their collective efforts to increase agricultural production for the nation’s wellbeing.

In presence of State agriculture minister Atul Bora, Parliamentarian Kamkhya Prasad Tasa and senior agri-officials, the Union minister appreciated the State government in Dispur and the agriculture department for putting all their efforts to implement various schemes for the benefit of local farmers.
