Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in New Delhi today, and paid tributes to Guru Sri Teg Bahadur for his supreme sacrifice.
There were no security arrangements or traffic barriers for people during the visit, officials said.
“This morning, I prayed at the historic Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, where the pious body of Guru Sri Teg Bahadur Ji was cremated. I felt extremely blessed. I, like millions around the world, am deeply inspired by the kindnesses of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji,” PM Modi said.
“It is the special Kripa of the Guru Sahibs that we will mark the special occasion of the 400th Parkash Parv of Guru Sri Teg Bahadur Ji during our Government’s tenure. Let us mark this blessed occasion in a historic way and celebrate the ideals of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji”, Prime Minister further said.
Guru Sri Tegh Bahadur was the 9th of 10 Gurus of Sikhs and was the youngest son of Guru Sri Hargobind ji. He was born in Amritsar in 1621. His martyrdom is remembered as the ‘Shaheedi Divas’.
