Miya Public School, Miya Museum, and many such controversial issues that are now floating around have its root in the strategies of Leftist Islamic Leaders. The soft corner of some political leaders, historians, intellectuals, etc. always beside such unconstitutional or irrelevant matters. Recently Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pointed out the conspiracy behind the establishment of the word ‘Miya’ and ‘Miya Culture’ and indicated how this will affect in conquering future Chief Minister post in Assam.

To understand the conspiracy behind all these, we have to scrutinise the developments that took place in the past.
When they included their names in Voters’ List in the late 1970s, nobody had imagined that inclusion in the electoral roll would bring such disastrous consequences and a sense of fear among original inhabitants of Assam and the Assamese culture.

After the successful acquisition of the voting power, they came up with Natun Asomiya Identity and then formed AAMSU(All Assam Muslim Students’ Union) in 1980. It opened the doors of state politics for them. The AAMSU consequently mingled with the AASU(All Assam Students Union)- a local body that represented Assamese Sentiment, which further strengthened their status quo.

The period after this success they found several extremists groups like that of MULTA, MULFA, MTF, MLA, MSF in the 1990s and failed to achieve any political gain but successfully established their presence in the region.
Finally, they have infiltrated formal politics of the state in 2005 and formed AIUDF- a Muslim political party, which changed the course of politics in Assam. Since then AIUDF has been influencing the politics of the state with victory in many assembly seats. They are now 35 per cent of the population. Assam has never been such a religious playground which ignited a sense of fear and scepticism among the native people for the Muslims.

The entry in the politics of the state has given them such courage that they are raising demand for Muslim Territory Council and Islamic Sahitya Sabha.

When these demands and infringement failed to fulfil their desires, then they came up with a new idea and demanded recognition of Miya language. In 2019 Miya Poetry released where Assamese people are called rapist of Muslim women, whereas the fact is the contrary. The Miya language is merely a distortion of Assamese language which has nothing to do with the Muslims of Assam. However, it can aid their political agendas.

The word Miya is a distortion of the word Asamiya or Asomiya and the establishment of the word Miya is a conspiracy to prove an indigenous narrative among the people of Assam.

A completely bizarre campaign emerged and they competed with the Ahoms citing they both came from outside the state.

The Miya Museum in Sankardeva Kalakshetra in 2020 also force us to think about their presence. The leftist Muslims want to prove legitimacy and indigenous narrative of the word ‘Miya’. Be it culture, literature or history they are infiltrating to solidify the identity. When one has a sense of indigenous identity among the people, that can become the future CM and rule Assam.
