Christian missionaries are at the forefront of massive conversions in almost all parts of India. Masquerading as charity workers, they come to convert the downtrodden sections of society. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and the entire North-east have been affected badly from the Church’s evangelical activities. These missionaries receive foreign funds amounting to millions of dollars (in the name of Charity). The Christian population of India is severely underreported since many of them are crypto-Christians, following Christianity in real life and Hinduism only on paper for reservations.

The whole propaganda around the ‘greatness’ of Christianity has revolved sound the idea of ‘sin’. Missionaries claim that Jesus gave his life to save the world from its sins. With the ‘rice bags’ attached to this argument, converting people has been an easy task for them.

A Hindu, who had studied at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya and has become a Christian, asked on Quora: “What solution does Hinduism provide for my past sins to be forgiven? How can I overcome my evil habits? How can I live a God-pleasing life? Is there an example in Hinduism who has lived a completely God-pleasing life that I can follow?” He insinuated that Christianity has answers to all his questions but not Hinduism.

For his query Maria Wirth replied:

“Karma will play out. You will suffer for some time if you made others suffer for example. It is just fair, isn’t it? That is the law of karma. You can overcome your evil habits in many ways, whatever suits you best: jnana, bhakti, karma, yoga. You need to access subtler planes of consciousness to know the truth. If you do this evil will fall away from you automatically. God-pleasing life means you follow your conscience. Satyam vada, Dharmam karo.

You must follow your dharma, not someone else’s dharma. You have a conscience for this purpose, to know what is right. If in doubt, ask scriptures or gurus. Btw, since you are now a Christian… your doctrine says that only Christianity can save a person. Others are damned eternally. Do you believe now that all Hindus, including the great sages, burn in hell? Do you realise that Christianity is based completely on blind belief in a story? St Paul says, “if Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, your faith is in vain.”

You can find out if it’s true, only when you are dead. But you are free to believe what you believe as long as you don’t harm others. But please don’t support missionaries who try to convert by hook or crook (they, of course, believe that they do a service to the heathen. But in all likelihood they are mistaken). And yes, the comments are correct: you don’t know much about Hinduism. The problem is that Hindus were not supposed to learn about Hindu Dharma, as the west needed to look better than the ‘native culture’, though no doubt, the native culture is superior.

It’s slowly changing. Pride in one’s own culture comes back. You may also come back.”
