Following the Nagrota encounter, where four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were neutralised by the security forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting to assess the national security. The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajith Doval, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and others from top intelligence establishments, reports ANI.
The encounter happened on Thursday between security forces and the JeM terrorists near Ban Toll Plaza in the Nagrota area of Jammu district. Later, Pakistan made Medicines, machine guns, magazines and bullets were recovered from the slain terrorists. Jammu IG Mukesh Singh had earlier briefed the media that the main target of these terrorists was to disrupt DDC election in J&K scheduled from November 28 to December 19.
There have also been multiple intelligence reports of Pakistan using Turkish drones to send arms and ammunition to the terrorists on the Indian side. Pakistan is also using the heavy snowfall in the region to infiltrate terrorists from their launch pads in the Occupied Kashmir region. Continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control is an indication of Pakistan’s attempt to keep the border hot when Jammu and Kashmir are going through a democratic process after the abrogation of Article 370 and various other measures from the Union government to annul special privileges given to the state.
Security agencies believe that these terrorists were assigned to carry out major terror operations on November 26. Due to the preparedness of the Union government, Pakistan failed to create any problems in Kashmir even after a year of abrogating Article 370. Also, the number of locals joining the Islamist militia has reduced substantially in the Kashmir valley.
