Bhai Dooj, the festival celebrating the special bond between brother and sister is being celebrated today.
On this day, sisters pray for their brothers to have a long and happy life by performing Tika ceremony and brothers offer gifts to their sisters. The festival is also celebrated as Bhau Beej, Bhathru Dwithiya, Bhai Phota, Ningol Chakuba and Bhai Tika in different parts of the country.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has extended his heartiest greetings on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. In a tweet, Mr Naidu said, this festival is a celebration of the sacred and everlasting bond between brothers and sisters. On this special day, we should resolve to protect the interests of women and girl children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes to the people on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said: “Best wishes to all of you on the holy occasion of Bhai Dooj.”
