11 Hindus migrants suspected to have committed suicide over a family dispute
At a time when Pakistan is under fire over persecution of minorities in that country, Islamabad is using Hindu citizens to tarnish India’s image globally. Egged on by politicians, Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) is planning to approach the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over the death of 11 Pakistani Hindus in Jodhpur on August 9, 2020. Rajasthan police suspect that victims committed suicide over a family dispute.
Earlier, Pakistan had tried to politicise the incident. In August, Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi had sought details of the incident and initial findings of the probe.
According to reports, Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, chief patron of the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) and politician, has sought the help of the Imran Khan government to take up the case. PHC organised a two-day protest outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Vankwani said his outfit would soon move the ICJ against India.
“During the protest, we submitted a resolution to the Indian High Commission demanding that India involve Pakistan for ensuring a fair and transparent investigation into the Jodhpur tragedy,” Vankwani told mediapersons.
“The resolution also urged India to revoke the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a controversial and discriminatory law allowing non-Muslims residing in states surrounding India and opportunity to get the Indian citizenship on a fast-track. The killing of 11 Pakistani Hindus in Jodhpur has exposed the CAA,” he added.
