An ambulance driver has been arrested in Pathanamthitta for sexually assaulting a girl who was tested positive for COVID 19. The incident took place at Aranmula on Sunday by 1 am, while the patient was being taken to Corona First Line Treatment Centre.
Ambulance 108 driver, Noufal was arrested in connection with the incident. The police said that Noufal was an accused in a murder attempt case. According to sources, it’s also suspected that Noufal is a member of radical Islamist outfit as he’s accused in several criminal cases.
As per the rules, the patient should have been escorted by a healthcare worker to the hospital. However, the health department sent 20-year-old patient to the hospital alone without ensuring her security. It is a serious lapse on the part of the health department to employ a person with criminal background for COVID duty.
