Air India flight splits into two parts on runway, two killed, several injured

An Air India flight from Dubai skid off on the runway in kalipur airport while landing. Several people are reportedly injured.
It is indicated that the fuselage broke into two after the aircraft overshot the runway at Kalipur airport. The landing time was 7:41 pm.The aircraft has been identified Boeing 737, According to the DGCA the plane has 190 passengers including 6 crew members. This aircraft was part of India’s “Vande Bharat” repatriation initiative to bring back Indians working in foreign countries back to India.
According to the reports both pilot of the plane died in the plane skid, however, there is no official confirmation of casualties or injured among passengers. It has been confirmed that the aircraft did not catch fire. The airport in Kozhikode, however, Kerala had been receiving heavy rainfall.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a statement saying, “Air India Express AXB1344, Boeing 737 Dubai to Calicut, person on board 190, visibility 2000 meter, heavy rain, after landing Runway 10, continue running to the end of the runway and fell down in the valley and broke down into two pieces.”
Home Minister Amit Shah has sent a team of NDRF to the kalipur Airport.
