Bhupesh Baghel headed Congress government in Chattisgarh is accused of not acting against the Maoist meeting currently underway in Bastar
There has been a spurt in the activities of the Maoists in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh after the Congress government returned to power in the state. The Maoists seem to have got a new lease of life are becoming active again and consequently an atmosphere of fear has engulfed all over Bastar again. According to reports, a large meeting of the top leaders of the Maoists and Naxalites is going on in the interiors of Bastar but the Congress government is playing deaf.
Reports say that more than half a dozen top Maoist leaders of the Central Committee of the CPI(ML) are present at the meeting. It is suspected that the Maoists are planning for a major terror strike in the country. Top Maoist terrorists like Kattakam Sudarshan, who has a prize money of 1 crore on his head, Kosa alias Satyanarayana Reddy, Devji alias Tippari Tirupati, Akki Raju alias Ram Krishna, Chandranna alias Pullari Prasad, Ganesh Uike aka Gajal Ravi who have a prize money of 40 lakh each on their heads are part of this meet.
The central theme of the meeting is said to be related to the restructuring of the terror organisations. Death of Maoist terrorist leader Rawalu Srinivas alias Ramanna 6 months ago has created a void in the top leadership of the organisation. Ramana has a prize money of 1.5 crores on his head. His position was to be given to Ganesh Uike aka Saka Hanumantu but he denied it citing old age. It is also said that Ganesh denied the top position due to the ongoing anti-Maoist campaign by the central security forces.
Intelligence reports say that the meeting of the top leadership of the Maoists had not been held for a long time, due to which the current meeting is being held. Nambala Keshav Rao aka Gaganna has been given the task to lead the organisation in the time being but no official announcement has been made yet. Bastar Police and Intelligence are aware of the presence of these Maoist terrorists and the purpose of their meeting.
Congress govt hesitant to act?
Despite the confirmation from the police and intelligence sources about the meeting and the presence of top Maoist terrorists, the inaction of the Government of Chhattisgarh and the state Police has given rise to several doubts. After all, why are the top terrorists of Maoists being given a free hand to go ahead with such a large gathering despite knowing the place and time of the meet?
Earlier in the month of June, Maoists held a meeting of more than 10,000 villagers in the border areas of Bijapur in Sukma district. Reports say that the Maoists had organized this big gathering to discuss their leadership with the villagers. Apart from this, the Maoists also raised money for themselves during the so-called meeting.
Even during this meet, the Congress Government in Chhattisgarh did not take any action. They neither tried to stop the Maoists’ meet with the villagers, nor is it trying to stop the ongoing meeting of the top Maoist terrorist leaders. This begs a question as to why is the Bhupesh Baghel government going soft on the Maoist terrorists?
It can be recalled that during the 2018 assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, then Uttar Pradesh Congress President had termed the Naxal terrorists as revolutionaries. After forming the government in the state, the Congress is accused of supporting the Maoists and Naxalites. Even the central leadership of the Congress Party is accused of sympathizing with the Urban Naxalites and the Maoists.
The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has been consistently talking about acting against the Maoists, but the fact its silence during the current large gathering of the terrorists after many years has put a question mark on their intent.
