In the changing environment due to Corona crisis, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has released the roadmap for the academic session 2020-21 for the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
Releasing the roadmap, the department said that the establishment of the foundational Literacy and Numeracy Mission under AtmaNirbhar Bharat and for result-based education would have to effectively implement this roadmap for NCERT and develop resources for the same. With this, we can improve the learning level of students as well as the level of learning in the next time.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said We would have to change the format and system of education in the coming times so that we can take education to every corner of the country. Through the roadmap being released NCERT today, We will complete this work. We sincerely hope that the way we have changed the Corona crisis period as an opportunity, in the same way, we all will adopt a new normal and give a new dimension to the Indian education system.
Infographics, posters and presentations have to be prepared for Classes 1-5 up to October 2020 and for Classes 6-12 explaining the learning outcome. The online teacher training course for teachers of classes 1-5 is to be completed in a phased manner by December 2020, and the training course for teachers of classes 6-12 is to be completed in a phased manner by June 2021.
Alternative educational material should be prepared for students of classes 1-5 up to December 2020 in a phased manner. Especially for children who do not have any online facility. Similarly, for classes 6-12, these materials are to be prepared in a phased manner by June 2021.
For each class, at least ten questions on two levels of proficiency have to be created by November 2020 for classes 1-5 and March 2021 for the rest of the classes to assess the learning outcome of each subject.
While making changes in the textbooks, it is essential to note that crucial textual content is not removed. Also, there should be no shortage of informative material in books. Apart from this, creative thinking, life skills, Indian ethos and civilisation, art etc. should also be included in the textbooks.
The new outline will be ready by March 2021 and NCERT will start working on the layout and design of textbooks from now. However, all new textbooks will be in accordance with the new national curriculum.
Under the AtamaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, PM will create content for NCERT for e-Vidya for self-sustaining channels (one class, one channel) for classes 1-12 and start all channels by August 2020.
