After the success of ‘Dattopant Thengadi Lecture Series’ Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad (ABAP) will start another online lecture series in the name of eminent Jurist N R Madhava Menon from 08.05.2020. Under this lecture series, every week, an eminent Jurist, Lawyer or Professor will preside the lecture on social media platforms of ABAP.

In continuation of this lecture series, Senior Advocate KK Venugopal, Attorney General of India agreed to be a part of this series. Mr Venugopal will deliver Key Note Speech and Prof C. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of OP Jindal University will give welcome address in first lecture series.

Shubhendu Anand, a member of the organising team said to Organiser, “After the grand success of Dattopant Thengadi Lecture Series that concluded last week in which country’s top lawyers and jurists spoke, Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad decided to launch the second lecture series to commemorate the father of modern legal education in India, Padma Bhushan Shri NR Madhava Menon. His contribution and dedication to mainstream legal education in India has been unparalleled. The lecture series is an attempt to initiate discussions to stimulate and sustain the attitude of learning and gaining legal knowledge through various eminent jurists and speakers.”

The driving force behind the creation of autonomous National Law Universities in India, Professor N R Madhava Menon, passed away at the age of 84 on May 9 last year. Prof Menon was the founding director of India’s first National Law University, the National Law School of India (NLSIU), Bangalore, and was also the founder Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Judicial Sciences in Kolkata.
