The Enforcement Directorate has booked suspended Aam Aadmi Party councillor Tahir Hussain, Islamist extremist group Popular Front of India and some others on charges of money laundering and alleged funding of the recent violence in northeast Delhi. Tahir Hussain is facing charges of killing an Intelligence Bureau official during the riots.
The agency has registered the case against PFI and Hussain under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The PFI is already facing a separate PMLA probe. At present, Hussain is in the custody of Delhi Police.
Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party had suspended Husain after the police got into action against him for instigating violence and for the murder of Ankit Sharma, who had multiple injury marks. Ankit Sharma’s father, Ravinder Sharma had accused Tahir Hussain of the murder.
