As a rebellion against the British Government it was quite understandable. But what baffled most was the treatment accorded by the Moplas to the Hindus of Malabar. The Hindus were visited by a dire fate at the hands of the Moplas. Massacres, forcible conversions, desecration of temples, foul outrages upon women, such as ripping open pregnant women, pillage, arson and destruction— in short, all the accompaniments of brutal and unrestrained barbarism, were perpetrated freely by the Moplas upon the Hindus until such time as troops could be hurried to the task of restoring order through a difficult and extensive tract of the country. This was not a Hindu-Moslem riot. This was just a Bartholomew. The number of Hindus who were killed, wounded or converted, is not known. But the number must have been enormous”. —Dr. B. R. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has narrated the situation of 1920 in the quote when the non-cooperation movement going on against the British in combination with Khilafat where he also mentioned that “What is astonishing is that these cold and deliberate acts of rank cruelty were not regarded as atrocities to be condemned but were treated as legitimate acts of warfare for which no apology was necessary.” The agitation was against the British rule but the victims were Hindus. And where was it happening, in Malabar or present day Mallapuram district of Kerala where Muslims were in majority. Now come straight to 2020 anti-CAA riots. The agitation is against an act brought by the Government for giving citizenship to persecuted minorities from the neighbouring countries. Then started Jamia violence, followed by Shaheen Bagh; and when everybody thought that this would be over after Delhi Assembly polls, areas like Jaffrabad, Mustafabad, Maujpur etc erupted in riots. Again Hindus were at the receiving end.
Why there is a need to compare this scenario? Remember, there are many Shaheen Baghs all over Bharat. Amidst the rhetoric of democracy and Constitution, Islamist, Supremacist and violent narratives are played there. As the veto applies on entry to these places, unless there is some goof-up from inside, as happened in the case of Sharjeel Imam, only the optics played for the gallery are visible. The so-called anti-CAA protests were always about demographic strength, as revealed by Waris Pathan. The desperation to vitiate the atmosphere, perfectly timed with the visit of US President Donald Trump, to internationalise the issue started with occupying Jaffrabad Metro Station and when it was resisted by the locals, it resulted in a full scale rioting and massacre.
If this was really the question of majority and minority, why is the rioting taking place only in the areas where the so-called minority is in majority? Is it a coincidence that none of the rioting hotspots, not just in Delhi but all over Bharat are Hindu majority areas?
The Islamist leadership generated fear-mongering, Communist-fascists provided intellectual leadership, liberals gave the media cover and sickular politicians tried to reap the electoral benefits. The international conspirators who do not want to see the stable and rising Bharat are effectively manipulating facts, even spreading fake news, to demean our country. The politics of ghettoism and vetoism had sown the seeds of Pakistan in 1920 and the same mindset is now demanding for granting citizenship to Muslims of Pakistan as well, who are perpetrators of violence against minorities there. The only difference is that neither the political establishment nor Hindus are ready to succumb to the politics of blackmailing.
Perpetuating permanent insecurity among the Muslim ghettos hand-in-glove with secularists is the business of Islamist leadership. For them the communal demographic advantage is more superior to democracy and national development. Anti-CAAism is just an expression of the same separatist insecurity based on religion and demography. Constable Ratan Lal and IB officer Ankit Sharma are the victims of this ghettoism.
If we really want to build assimilative democracy, then Bharat needs to come out of this fake-minoritism – where minorities rule the roost wherever they are in majority. The cherished heritage of accepting and respecting all ways should be established as the principle spiritual democracy so that democracy is not reduced to demography and the Kafirophobia generated by Islamists do not generate insecurity and violence.
