The officials of the Military intelligence have arrived in Kerala to probe into the recovery of Pakistan-made bullets from Kulathurpuzha, in Kollam district. Military Intelligence has joined the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the investigation.
On Saturday, the Kerala Police recovered 14 bullets from Kulathurpuzha, a forest area that borders Tamil Nadu. Two bike-borne youths spotted the abandoned package on the roadside and informed the police.
According to the police, the sized ammo carried an inscription’ POF’, which has been preliminarily identified as ‘Pakistan Ordnance Factory’. The 7.62 mm bullets are believed to have been made in 1981-82. They are used in machine guns. The forensic and ballistic examinations of the bullets have already begun.

Meanwhile, the state Excise Department arrested a person with cartridges at the Kiliyanthara excise check post on Saturday. The excise seized 60 bullets from him. According to excise officials, the accused was attempting to smuggle the bullets into Kerala from Tamil Nadu inside a car. Kiliyanthara Excise Inspector EB Vishnu said that the bullets are reported used in country rifles.
