On February 13, 2020, the Hon’ble President of India and the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces, Shri Ram Nath Kovind awarded the President’s Colour to INS Shivaji. Award of Presidents Colour is the highest honour which can be bestowed upon any military unit and is an acknowledgement of the unit’s meritorious service. The President in his address said “I compliment the Indian Navy and INS Shivaji on this proud occasion and urge all the men and women to continue their selfless and dedicated service to the nation.” INS Shivaji, commissioned in 1945, is now a prestigious technical training establishment of the Indian Navy. It provides technical training in engineering to personnel of Navy, Coast Guard, and friendly foreign countries. Since its inception, INS Shivaji has trained over two lakh officers and sailors, both Indian and international.
