After confirming the Chief Minister Vijayan’s accusations against Islamic terrorist outfits like Jamaat-e-Islami and PFI-SDPI, the CPM state secretary extended an invitation to Islamic fundamentalist Muslim League to join the party’s anti-CAA protests!

CPM Kerala state secretary Balakrishnan has said a section in Islam is trying to create a communal divide in the country. Naming Islamic extremist outfits Jamaat-e-Islami and PFI-SDPI, he accused the Islamic outfits of inciting hatred for Hindus. “Both are trying for communal polarisation,” he said. He was addressing the media in a press conference at Thiruvananthapuram today.

“Jamaat-e-Islami stands for Islamic State. It is driven by the motto of freeing India through Islam. SDPI is using religion as a weapon of terrorism,” Balakrishnan said. He also alleged that Muslim fundamentalists are exhorting people to cry ‘bolo takbeer…’.

Religious slogans like “bolo takbeer allahu akbar” and “la illaha illallah” were widely raised in anti-CAA protests organised across the country.

Contradicting his own accusations against the Islamic fundamentalists, Balakrishnan admitted that members of minority community had taken part in the ‘human chain’ in a big way. “Truth is, even people from other non-Left parties had also participated,” he added. In fact, cadres of Islamist extremist outfits like Muslim League, Jamaat-e-Islami and PFI-SDPI had participated in large numbers in the ‘human chain’, which was organised by the CPM as part of anti-CAA protests on January 26.

Two weeks ago, the CPM leader and Kerala chief minister Vijayan had cautioned people against the infiltration of members of “extremist” outfits like SDPI in anti-CAA protests in the state. He had alleged that the extremist groups aimed at creating riots in the name of protests.

“It has been brought to the government’s notice that SDPI’s members were trying to infiltrate in the protests in many places and divert the issues. They were not only indulging in violence, but also trying to divide people and create communal disharmony in society,” the Kerala chief minister had said.

“Congress is not taking an effective stand. For them, anti-communism is more important than opposing the RSS. But we know there are ‘secular minded people’ within the UDF and our future course of action will be organised in such a way as to include them also,” said Balakrishnan, apparently referring to the Muslim League!

CPM has planned a series of agitations against the CAA including door-to-door campaigns and other protests, to which the party wants to ensure the participation of the Muslim League, which holds sway over the Muslim population in the state.
