CPM-DYFI workers blocking roads and railway in Kerala post-midnight

Congress and the ruling CPM staged massive protests against the ‘alleged killing of students in Jamia Millia Islamia’ at all district capitals across Kerala post-midnight. The midnight protests erupted close on the heels of the Jihadi violence unleashed in Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi.

A group of Delhi-based Muslim journalists working with Malayalam Islamist publications spearheaded a social media campaign, propagating fake news about the police action in Jamia Nagar. In Whats App messages, posted in media groups to mislead media persons, they claimed that several students were shot dead in the Jamia Millia Islamia University.

In a WhatsApp conversation accessed by Organiser, Afsal Rahman CA, a contributor to the publications of Jamaat-e-Islami and various Malayalam media outlet, posted in a group dedicated for South Indian media, that two students were shot dead by the police in Jamia Millia Islamia University. Hours later, when the message was proved to be fake, several senior journalists registered their protest against propagating such fake news in media group to which information is supposed to be passed on after fact-check.

Interestingly, Aysha Renna, who was seen in an altercation with the Delhi police during yesterday’s Jamia protests, is the wife of Afsal Rahman who led the fake news campaign.

According to sources, the central intelligence agency has already taken necessary steps to curb the fake news campaign and monitor the perpetrators. Sources suggest that the same herd of radical Muslim journalists, affiliated to JeI and PFI, were involved in the fake news campaign against the Electronic Voting Machine during the 2019 general elections.

The fake message was widely spread in Kerala that led to anarchy in various parts of the state at the stroke of midnight. Thousands of people took to streets in the midnight in protest against the ‘fake killings of Jamia students’. Hundreds of radical Islamist youth, under the aegis of CPM and Congress, offered Namaz-e-Mayyit (funeral prayers) for the Jamia martyrs at various places including the state capital.

In Kerala, CPM-Congress had taken over the campaign, floated by journalists associated with radical Muslim outfits like Jamaat-e-Islami. These journalists have been directly involved in the anti-CAB protests as some of their journalists are found indulging in violence against the police yesterday.

CPM and Congress workers, holding tri-colour and red flags, blocked roads and railways in various parts of the state. The youth wings of both CPM and Congress staged a violent protest march in front of Raj Bhawan in Thiruvananthapuram. The members of various Islamic outfits like Jamaat-e-Islami and Popular Front also joined the protest.

The state police have beefed up security in the state as various radical Muslim outfits called for a state-wide hartal in Kerala tomorrow. The intelligence agencies have already alerted the police about the possibility of violent attacks in Muslim dominated areas of northern Kerala under the garb of CAB protests.
