West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party of creating differences. She also told the minorities not to make the mistake of “trusting these forces” and warned them against what she describes as “extremism”.
Without explicitly mentioning the name of AIMIM or Asaduddin Owaisi, Mamata said they were based out of Hyderabad.
Replying to Mamata’s allegation, the AIMIM’s leader, Asaduddin Owasi said it wasn’t religious extremism “to say that Bengal’s Muslims have one of the worst human development indicators of any minority”.
Mamata Banerjee was speaking on Monday at a rally in Cooch Behar, a border district in West Bengal where illegal immigration from Bangladesh is a burning issue.
