Dharwad: “If there is sanskar there is honesty. The future of Bharat has to be envisioned with an overview of the current state of the country. Patriots must emerge from every home to embody this imagination,” said Pramukh Sanchalika of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti Sushri Shantakka. She highlighted that a positive transformation in society can be achieved through a determined women power. She was speaking at GANGOTRI-50, an event organised to commemorate 50th year of the first visit of Moushiji Kelkar, founder of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, and the then RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Guruji to a ‘Samiti Shiksha Varg’ in 1969. The valedictory session was held at RLS College Ground on the evening of November 3.
The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, started in 1936 as a small organisation of women, is today spread across the country. India is a young country and the youth today need proper guidance. It is unfortunate that young, talented students are involved in anti-national activities. They should be guided in the right direction. For this to happen, every woman should make a determined resolve to create a positive atmosphere in the society, she said.
Speaking as chief guest, Dr Geeta Uthura, famous Gynecologist and Prof in Dharwad, spoke about the discipline and virtues of the Sevika Samiti. “Only those who know history buffs can create history. So, everyone should know about the history of glorious Bharat. We should stay away from Westernisation and desist from the blind copy in the name of modernity. Children today need value-based education. It is commendable to know that Rashtra Sevika Samiti is doing the same,” she said. Alaka Inamadar, Ambika Nagabhushan, Ved Kulkarni, Vasanthaka and many other senior functionaries of the Samiti were also present. Earlier, demonstration of Yogasana, Surya Namaskar and physical exercises were held.
Before the event at RLS College Grounds, attractive Pathasanchalan of the Sevikas was held. The sanchalan started from Vidyaranya School Grounds and passed through various parts of the city. Portraits of Lakshmibai Kelkar, founder of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, and Saraswatibai Apte, second Pramukh Sanchalika were taken in an open vehicle. The pathsanchalan reached RLS College Grounds after going through Gandhi Chowk, Vivekananda Circle, Azad Park and Alur Venkatarao Circle.
Beautiful Rangolis and portraits of great personalities of Bharat adorned the important junctions of the city. The public greeted the pathsanchalan by showering flower petals along the route. More than 1,000 Sevikas from different districts participated in the pathsanchalan.
