INDIAN AIR FORCE OFFICERS VISIT THAILAND

On August 27, 2019, a delegation of 15 IAF officers led by Group Captain Nitin Nayal visited the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) Base as part of IAF-RTAF officers exchange programme. The delegation was received by Group Captain Sommai, the Deputy Director office of Policy and Planning of the Royal Thai Air Force.

DEFENCE CORRESPONDENTS COURSE – 2019 (DCC) COMMENCES AT MARITIME WARFARE CENTRE (MWC)

On August 26, 2019, a month-long course DCC, for selected journalists from regional and national media houses, commenced at the MWC, Mumbai. The Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command delivered the inaugural address. The aim of DCC is to build over time, a pool of journalists at all levels, who understand the Armed Forces and are cognizant of the domain when reporting on stories regarding the maritime environment. During the course, the participants will be addressed by subject matter experts from within the Navy and the Coast Guard and acquainted with aspects of naval operations like aircraft carrier operations, Naval Diplomacy, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief role of the Navy, the organisational structure of the Navy and the Coast Guard. The participants will also visit naval and Coast Guard ships, submarines and the Naval Dockyard.

INDIAN ARMY HANDs OVER TEN TATA SAFARI STORME SUVS TO MYANMAR

On August 26, 2019, the Indian Army handed over ten TATA Safari Storme SUVs to Myanmar. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had promised to deliver the vehicles to Myanmar Commander-in-Chief during his recent visit to India. The vehicles were handed over by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar.

AIR CHIEF MARSHAL BS DHANOA VISITS THAILAND

Chairman Chief of Staff Committee and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa visited Thailand from August 26 to 28, 2019 to participate in the Indo Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference in Bangkok. The theme of the conference was “Collaboration in a free and Open Indo-Pacific”. The conference, attended by over 33 countries, provided perspectives on common challenges faced by attending nations. Bilateral defence relations between India and Thailand have gained momentum consequent to India’s ‘Look/Act East Policy’ along with overall improvement in relations at political, economic and cultural levels.

NAVAL CHIEF SAYS–JAISH-E-MOHAMMED TRAINING TO CARRY OUT UNDERWATER ATTACK

While answering a query on the changing form of terror, Admiral Karambir Singh, the Chief of Naval Staff is reported to have said that the intelligence input indicates that Pak-based JeM is training its terrorists for an underwater attack. He assured all that the coastal security forces are ensuring that there is no intrusion from the sea and the Navy is fully prepared to thwart any such attempt. The Indian Navy, maritime police, state governments and other stakeholders are making sure there is no intrusion from the sea he added.

MOD SIGNS CONTRACT FOR NINE
PRECISION APPROACH RADARS (PAR)

 

A Rs 380 crore contract under ‘Buy Indian’ category, for installation and commissioning of nine PARs has been concluded by the MoD with M/s Data Pattern (India) Pvt Ltd. The state-of-the-art radars incorporating latest Phased Array technology will be installed at Indian Naval Air Stations and Indian Air Force Stations. Installation of these radars will enhance the Flight Safety at the terminal stages of aircraft landing at the airfields.

INDIAN AIR FORCE GETS ITS 11TH C-17 GLOBEMASTER III

American Boeing aerospace company has delivered the 11th C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft to the Indian Air Force. The C-17 Globemaster III is a premier transport aircraft that can carry large combat equipment, troops and humanitarian aid across long distances in all weather conditions.
