JAPANESE MARITIME SELF DEFENCE SHIP VISITS KOCHI

On August 13, 2019, missile destroyer ‘JS Sazanami’ of the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, commanded by Commander Shoji Ishkawa, visited Kochi on a two-day good will visit. The Commanding Officer and other visiting officials called on Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command and interacted over professional matters of common interests to both navies. During the stay at Kochi, various activities such as visit of Indian Naval personnel onboard ‘JS Sazanami’ and professional interaction between the two navies were conducted. The visiting crew were also given a conducted tour of the Anti-Submarine Warfare School and the Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘INS Sunayna’.

SUKHOI-30 AIRCRAFT OF IAF CRASHES IN TEZPUR

A Sukhoi-30 aircraft of the Indian Air Force, on a routine training mission crashed in Tezpur on August 8, 2019. Both pilots ejected safely and were rescued. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to go into the cause of the accident.
