Belagavi: Veteren RSS Pracharak, Prakash Kamath, breathed his last on April 21. He was 70. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital after he suffered brain stroke recently. He is survived by his two brothers and a sister. He was the strength behind the beginning of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram work in Karnataka. He worked under the guidance of the late Ajith Kumar ji. Due to health troubles, he was relieved from his responsibilities three years ago. After that he was staying at Kumta, Uttar Kannada. He was moved to Belagavi for treatment.
Born in Sringeri on April 10, 1949, he was a gold medalist in Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Surathkal. He worked in various capacities for development of Vanvasis including serving for 10 years in North Eastern part of Bharat. He devoted his entire life to the society and the upliftment of Vanvasis. He was stationed at Patna and had held Akhil Bharatiya responsibility of Gram Vikas which focused on welfare of the Vanvasis. He was a firm believer of the fact that the task of upliftment of Vanvasis was to be done by karyakartas with whole heartedness and with a continuous, long term dedication.
Kshetra Sanghachalak Sri V Nagaraj and Kshetra organising secretary of Kalyan Ashram Sri Sripada paid tribute. Sri V Nagaraj compared the dedication of Prakash Kamath ji as pure gold. Sri Sripada said Kamathji always wished the volunteers work for the development and upliftment of Vanvasis in a dedicated manner till the ultimate goal of bringing the Vanvasis to the mainstream is reached.
