Addressing a mammoth rally in the late evening of April 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Tiruvananthapuram that his party and government would go to any extent for safeguarding the traditions which are thousands of years old. All possible steps wil be taken in both court and parliament in this regard. None will be permitted to sabotage the traditions and customs. PM was addressing NDA’s Vijay Sankalp Rally in Tiruvananthapuram in connection with the LS election campaign of BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan and Ms. Shobha Surendran, candidates of Tiruvananthapuram and Attingal constituencies respectively.
PM blasted Congress and Rahul Gandhi saying they play two different games both in Kerala and Delhi. In Delhi, Congress and CPM are in dosthi, and in Kerala, they are in gusthi. LDF tries to divide the people of Kerala on religion and caste lines. Communists do not respect people. They do not give any regard to human life and faith. They are least bothered about pooja and rituals. If you say God’s name, you will be trapped in false case and will have to face lathi charge.
People are at a loss to follow what CPM and Congress say. Congress says, Rahul contests from Wynadu to ‘save south India’. if so, why not from Tiruvananthapuram or Pathanamthitta ? Congress approach of appeasement and ideas are anti national. Rahul says, he brings to Wynadu Amethi’s development model. PM taunted Congress saying that Amethi’s development model can be seen in internet.
PM said that our fishermen are soldiers who save the countrymen during natural calamities. Union government implements several schemes for them. A separate ministry is bring formed in this respect. They will be included in the PM’s Kissan Samman Scheme. Government has introduced 10 % reservation for the economically weaker section (EWS) among the genneral category candidates. It has been framed sans snatching the benefits of the backward communities.
The presence of T.P. Sreenivasan, renowned academician and former ambassador, on the dais was very much significant. He said, the victory of an exemplary character like Kummanam is essential for Tiruvananthapuram. He rememebred that it was him who introduced Sasi Tharur when he contested first time in 2009. But, he did not do anyting for the people and the constituency.

Another star speaker was Tom Vadakkan, former AICC spokesman. He blasted Rahul and his party for ignoring the interests of the country.
Thousands of people waited to see and hear the country’s PM for several hours together. PM was supposed to reach the ground at 6 pm. But later on it was announced that PM would be coming only after 9 pm. Still people were not in a mood to go home. The success of the programme shall be viewed against the bakdrop of several survey reports that Kummanam is all set to win from Tiruvananthapuram beating Congress’s Sasi Tharur and CPI’s C. Divakaran.
